Oliver Pintar (42 years)

Loves the diversity and opportunities in Berlin.

Where do you work?

I work as an IT system administrator at webesan GmbH. We are working to restore damage caused by mold, fire, water, and hazardous substances at eight locations all over Germany.

I am part of a four-person team responsible for keeping the company in house IT infrastructure up and running. We support all of our employees in the field of IT and advise them on all technical matters.

Why did you choose Berlin?

I lived in England for many years. In 2020, however, due to Brexit, I decided to return to Germany. Berlin smiled at me first, so I instinctively chose it.

What do you love about Berlin?

I love the diversity and opportunities in the city. I always experience something new here. I love walking down the streets in the various districts, discovering houses and new ways of life. When I go out exploring, I quickly find myself in conversations with many different people, people from every country in the world who all come together in beautiful Berlin. A great feeling.

Who or what helped you to settle in when you first arrived in Berlin?

Two things. Sports and my company. During the pandemic, we were only allowed to do sports outside. That’s when I discovered beach volleyball and golf. My employer, webesan, also helped me a lot with finding an apartment and moving. That helped a lot.

If you could give a new Berliner a tip, what would it be?

Explore your district by bike or on foot! Look at everything close up and try to strike up conversations with people. Everyone will approach you openly here. You should do that too! You’ll have a lot of fun in Berlin.

Thank you, Oliver.
