Are you currently looking for a new job in Berlin and want to find out more about companies in the capital? Admittedly, it can sometimes be difficult to maintain an overview. Assessing the career opportunities in major European cities is a challenge. Presumably London has lots of tech companies, Paris fashion companies and Frankfurt finance companies. But what about Berlin?

Berlin is a hub for future-oriented companies with a clear focus on innovation – characterised by start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises. This is where science and business work closely together to adapt to changes in an agile manner and take them into account in the world of work.

Alternative job search in Berlin

Typical platforms like Google Jobs or Indeed provide an initial impression of the corporate landscape, but are viewed as trans-regional job portals. In our local job portal, you can find many open positions in the Berlin-Brandenburg region – a great way to search for jobs.

Did you know that only one in three open positions on average are advertised by companies? In other words, there are twice as many positions available, which are not advertised.

There are a number of reasons for this. In most cases, however, the companies with open positions simply lack the time. The unadvertised jobs are often filled as a result of network activities and employee programmes. This makes it all the more important to look for Berlin’s companies. But how can I go about finding them?

It is the locations that have to be found. The locations where companies have established themselves. After all, Berlin covers a larger area than London and Paris together. The capital also contains a number of conventional commercial districts, industrial parks and innovation locations where companies have settled. Eleven future hubs are likewise located in Berlin.

In addition to these eleven official locations, Berlin is also home to additional industrial and science parks, bringing together innovative Berlin companies. Some examples include Netzwerk Großbeerenstraße, Unternehmensnetzwerk Motzener Straße, and Naumannpark.

Each location has its own website featuring information on the companies with offices at that location. The websites are a great place to research companies, what they do, and if they have any open positions. Many of these entrepreneurial networks also host regular open houses, public lectures and conferences on specialist subjects, and summer fêtes – the perfect opportunity to get in contact with a company and their hiring staff. Who knows, this might just be the path to your dream job in the greatest city in the world. We wish you all the best in your search!
