What exactly do you do in your company?

GetYourGuide is an online marketplace for tourist activities and guided tours – in the city and out in the countryside. We’re active worldwide and make it possible for our clients to book exciting and unforgettable events online or over an app. We attach great importance to making this a hassle-free discovery and booking process. For example, you can book passes for the Fernsehturm (TV tower) in Berlin or the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

In my job as a software engineer, I develop creative solutions to complex problems. The team in which I work is responsible for the inventory. We ensure that many diverse activities are available daily for booking. To do this, we work closely with analysts, product managers, customer consultants, and activity operators, both in-house and externally. Exciting!

What fascinates you about this career?

I am captivated to witness the combination of deep technical knowledge and entrepreneurial thinking. I am challenged to find a solution that suits everyone concerned. For example, I can use my technical know-how in order to make the booking process easier for our clients. That’s a good feeling. It is a personal issue to me that people be able to book wonderful experiences in their much-deserved vacation without complications. I can contribute to that here at GetYourGuide.

What made you decide on this workplace in a Berlin enterprise?

I have worked abroad previously, Italy and China among others. I came to appreciate an international work environment in that time. Berlin is very international. So many cultures come together here. Thus, the city is a perfect match for me, just like GetYourGuide. GetYourGuide is nothing, if not international, as well. For example, English is our internal company language. I love the mix of people here, and I am simply thrilled to be a part of it.
