Colin Mesko (26)

recommends moving to Berlin in summer.

Where do you work?

I am in charge of the Driver Operations team at Blacklane. Blacklane offers classic chauffeur services and airport concierge services in over 300 cities worldwide. Our goal is to give all of our customers peace of mind. They should be able to travel free of worry.

My team is responsible for onboarding all chauffeurs and partners worldwide. We make sure that all of Blacklane’s partners meet our quality standards. This way, we can be certain that our quality promise is kept.

Why did you choose Berlin?

I didn’t exactly choose Berlin to be honest. I moved here because of a relationship. Berlin wasn’t actually among my top cities. I originally come from Slovakia and I studied in Denmark for three years. However, I must admit: after a few initial hiccups, I have now fallen head over heels in love with Berlin.

What do you love about Berlin?

I love how diverse Berlin is. There are so many different areas. Each area has a different atmosphere and look. I think that anyone who moves to Berlin can find happiness here, because there are so many things to experience.

What I love most here is the nature and the spectrum. Although Berlin is one of Europe’s major cities, it is still very green. There are plenty of parks and lots of natural beauty. So if you like the outdoors, Berlin is a great place to live.

Who or what made living in Berlin easier for you when you arrived?

I began working at Blacklane shortly after moving to Berlin. I quickly found new friends here. That helped a lot in exploring the city.

If you could give one tip to a newcomer to Berlin, what would it be?

Move to Berlin in summer or at the start of summer! The summers in Berlin are fantastic. That way, you will see the city at its best right from the start. I would also advise you to take some time to warm up to the city. The first few weeks weren’t easy for me either, but at some point you will love Berlin.
