Octapharma Biopharmaceuticals GmbH a subsidiary of the Octapharma group founded in 1997 is a successful and expanding biotech company in Heidelberg. Our core business is the development of recombinant proteins produced in human cell lines for therapeutic use in humans. The Molecular Biochemistry department, based in Berlin, Germany, develops technologies to study the structure and function of plasma-derived and recombinant proteins. It has developed new ways to decipher the relationships between different plasma proteins and their influence on the immune system. The unit's cutting-edge methods support product development, regulatory compliance as well as life-cycle management.

A position is available for a bioanalytical scientist to join the mass spectrometry research team at Octapharma’s Molecular Biochemistry department in Berlin. For the evaluation of our protein pharmaceuticals, we use a variety of proteomics approaches ranging from protein identification and quantification to PTM analysis. Methods such as Crosslinking MS for structural analysis and immunopeptidomics for immunogenicity evaluation were recently established to support the drug development. We are looking for a Scientist (m/f/d) passionate about learning and quickly applying new skills to project needs. The full-time position is temporary for 14 months and preferentially starting in September 2025.

Prepare samples for mass spectrometry, run samples and analyze the data

Contribute to the day-to-day running and operation of the nano-LC-MS instruments

Independently design and conduct analytical experiments and method development as needed

Collaborating with and supporting other lab members on research projects

Data interpretation and documentation of experimental results

Communication of experimental results to team members

Participate in regular group meetings, including weekly lab meetings

Required qualifications

 

BS/MS/PhD degree in chemistry, biological sciences, biochemistry or related fields

Demonstrated experience in a variety of MS-based applications for the analysis of proteins/peptides

Skilled in protein/peptide sample preparation techniques including BCA/Bradford protein quantification, SDS-PAGE, in-gel and solution proteolytic digestion protocols

Self-starter and able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Strong data organization, analysis, and communication skills

Ability to multitask

 

Preferred qualifications

 

 

Experience with nanoElute and timsTOF Pro in hard- and software

Experience with data analysis software (PEAKS, Spectronaut, Skyline)

General experience in the field of immunogenicity

Programming skills in python scripts and/or “R”
